Hardy waterlilies have been cultivated in water gardens for over a hundred years and have been featured by famous artists such as Monet in their paintings. Hardy waterlilies get their name because they are able to overwinter and come back the next year. For best results plants should be repotted on a yearly basis with rhizomes being trimmed as necessary. Almost every color imaginable is available with new varieties being hybridized all the time. Hardy waterlilies are heavy feeders and flower colors are at their best with proper nutrition. Make sure to fertilize your waterlilies on a regular basis for optimum performance.

Tropical waterlilies are known for their ability to produce more flowers and more colorful waterlily pads than any other varieties of waterlilies. It is not uncommon to see 3 or more open flowers from one tropical waterlily in a day! Some tropical waterlilies have over 100 petals on a flower and flowers come in almost all shades imaginable. Plant tropical waterlilies in the sunny parts of the water garden in the largest possible container for the area. The larger the container, the larger the plant will be. Remember to fertilize them monthly to keep them in peak performance.
