Shinnersia rivularis
Shinnersia rivularis is a lovely stem plant that is not used enough in modern aquariums. It is such a fast grower that more accomplished aquarists sometimes get tired of the trimming required, but this same vigor makes it a wonderful plant for less experienced aquatic gardeners. While, like all plants it will do better with the introduction of supplemental CO2, it will also do just fine without. It does better in at least moderate light levels. It will keep growing even in poorer light conditions, but will stretch for the surface, with longer internodes and smaller leaves in such conditions. In brighter light, the tops of the leaves will develop a pretty, rosy hue.
