Echinodorus 'St. Elmo's Fire'

Echinodorus ‘St. Elmo's Fire’ was developed by Tomas Kaliebe and brought to market in 2003. It is a crossbreed between the varieties Echinodorus 'Grosser Baer' and 'Ozelot'. Echinodorus ‘St. Elmo's  Fire’ has deep wine-red leaves making it a unique aquarium plant.  The submersed leaves are longer and narrower, with a shorter petiole (stem) than the emersed plants shown in these photos. With it’s slower growth and unique red color, it makes a perfect centerpiece for any aquarium.
